IELTS Exam Fee in Indonesia (2026)
What IELTS costs in rupiah at IDP, the British Council and IALF, how to pay each one, the KTP or passport rule, the refund clocks that differ by provider, and how not to pay it twice.
How much is the IELTS exam fee in Indonesia?
As of 22 September 2026, these are the fees on the providers' own pages. The fee rose in 2026, so a page still quoting Rp 3,150,000 or Rp 3,490,000 is showing an old price.

What other charges can come up?
The test fee is the whole price of sitting the test. These charges appear only when something changes, and the clocks differ by provider:

How do I pay: virtual account, QRIS or card?
IDP: bank transfer only, to a virtual account issued at booking (BNI, Mandiri or other banks), in rupiah, inside the window shown on screen. British Council: online only since 1 July 2026: card, QRIS, ShopeePay, Jenius Pay, DOKU wallet or virtual account, with no cash or office payment. IALF: QRIS, Visa, Mastercard, JCB and American Express, 0% instalments on BCA, BNI and Mandiri cards, ATM networks and mobile banking. No provider states a surcharge. A few details catch candidates out:

Where can I sit IELTS in Indonesia?
IDP lists more than 30 venues in 14 cities: several in Jakarta, plus Tangerang, Bandung, Semarang, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Malang, Purwokerto, Bali, Medan, Padang, Batam, Pontianak and Makassar. The British Council tests in Jakarta, Bekasi, Depok, Bogor, Tangerang, Bandung, Semarang, Solo, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Makassar, Manado, Medan, Padang and Denpasar. IALF runs Jakarta, Gading Serpong and Bali with sittings in Malang, Batam, Makassar and Pontianak. Sittings are on computer with a face-to-face Speaking test. When do results come out?
1 to 5 days for IELTS on Computer at IDP; its Jakarta sessions are listed with results in 1 to 5 days. You preview the band online and receive an electronic Test Report Form.
How do I avoid paying Rp 3,600,000 twice?
Only book when your practice band already meets your target. The most common mistake in Indonesia is booking on hope: a candidate needing 6.5 for an LPDP scholarship or an Australian offer books at a practice level of 5.5, falls short, and pays the whole fee again. Take full mock tests until your score is stable at or above target. If one section lets you down on test day, a One Skill Retake within 60 days is cheaper than a full resit, as long as the organisation you are applying to accepts it. A month of unlimited AI-scored practice costs about 3% of one exam fee.

IELTS for UKVI is Rp 4,060,000 and IELTS Life Skills Rp 3,021,000 at IDP and the British Council. IALF adds a charge for venues outside Jabodetabek and Denpasar.
Is there a discount on the IELTS fee?
Sometimes. During 2026 both IDP and IALF have advertised Rp 500,000 off computer-delivered tests with a promotion code. Promotions come and go, so look for one on the provider’s booking page before you pay full price.
How do I pay IDP for the test?
By bank transfer to a virtual account that IDP issues at booking, at BNI, Mandiri or other banks. The transfer has to land within the window shown at booking, as short as 30 minutes on one IDP page and 24 hours on another, or the seat is cancelled. IDP takes rupiah only and does not offer card, QRIS or wallet payment for the test fee.
Can I pay with QRIS, GoPay or OVO?
At the British Council, yes for QRIS: since 1 July 2026 it takes online payment only, by card, QRIS, ShopeePay, Jenius Pay, DOKU wallet or virtual account. IALF takes QRIS, Visa, Mastercard, JCB and American Express, 0% instalments with BCA, BNI and Mandiri cards, and mobile banking. No provider lists GoPay or OVO as a method.
Do I need a passport, or is a KTP enough?
A KTP or a passport, at both IDP and the British Council, and it must be the same original document at booking, on the written test day and again at the Speaking test. At IDP a passport must still be valid at least 7 days after the test date; if you have renewed it since booking, bring the old and the new one. Photocopies are refused.
Is paper-based IELTS still available in Indonesia?
In practice, no. The British Council stopped paper tests from 21 June 2026, and every IDP session listed for Jakarta is on computer. IDP’s fee page still says paper or computer, but the paper sittings are gone from its calendar.
What if I need to change or cancel my date?
IDP (for bookings made from 14 July 2026): with 15 or more days’ notice you can transfer once for free to a date within 3 months, or cancel for a 75% refund; at 5 to 14 days a transfer costs 25% of the fee; under 5 days it counts as a cancellation and within 14 days there is no refund. IALF charges Rp 600,000 to cancel and transfers once for free. The British Council needs 5 weeks for a 75% refund and reschedules up to 14 days out with a fee of up to 25%.
