Terms of Service

The agreement between you and IELTSLab governing access to and use of our website, mobile applications, and related services.

Effective 27 April 2026

Plain-language summary

  • AI-generated scoring. Band scores and feedback are produced by automated systems. They are a practice signal, not an official IELTS score, and may occasionally be inaccurate.
  • Liability carve-outs. Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law — data-protection violations under GDPR, UK-GDPR, or CCPA; death or personal injury caused by negligence; fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
  • Acceptable use. You must not attempt to extract our system prompts or proprietary models, submit infringing or unlawful content, bypass per-user usage limits, or use the Service to train competing AI models.
  • Account termination & data deletion. You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete my account. We still honour your data-deletion rights even after termination.
  • Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. Disputes will be resolved by the courts of Dhaka, except that you retain any non-waivable rights granted by your local consumer-protection laws.

This summary is provided for convenience only. The numbered sections below are the binding version of our Terms of Service.

1. Agreement to Terms

These Terms are the agreement between you and IELTSLab covering how you use our website and mobile apps. Throughout this document "the Service" means the website and apps together. When you create an account or use the Service in any other way, you are telling us you have read these Terms and our Privacy Policy and that you agree to both. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

We update these Terms occasionally. When the change is material we will give you reasonable notice through the Service or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after that date counts as acceptance of the new version.

2. Service Description

IELTSLab is an AI-powered IELTS preparation platform available on web and mobile. The Service provides practice materials and AI-generated feedback across all four IELTS skills: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking.

IELTSLab is an independent platform and is notaffiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia, Cambridge Assessment English, or any official IELTS testing body. "IELTS" is a registered trademark jointly owned by the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia, and Cambridge University Press & Assessment. All references to IELTS on this platform are for descriptive purposes only.

3. Eligibility

IELTSLab is an educational platform open to learners of all ages. If you are under 18, we recommend that a parent or guardian reviews these terms with you. By creating an account, you agree to comply with these Terms of Service.

4. Accounts

To access certain features of the Service, you must create an account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete information during registration.
  • Maintain the security of your account credentials and not share them with others.
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access to your account.
  • Accept responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or are used for unauthorized purposes.

5. User Content & AI Processing

Ownership. You retain full ownership of all content you submit to the Service, including essays, written responses, audio recordings, and any other materials ("User Content").

License. By submitting User Content, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to process, analyze, store, and display your content back to you for the sole purpose of providing the Service. We will not sell, share, or use your User Content for any purpose other than delivering the Service to you, unless we obtain your explicit consent.

AI Processing. The Service uses artificial intelligence to analyze your submissions and generate feedback, scores, and recommendations. AI-generated outputs are approximate assessments intended for practice purposes only. They do not constitute official IELTS scores or professional evaluations.

Deletion. You may request deletion of your User Content at any time through your account settings or by contacting us. Upon deletion, we will remove your content from our active systems within a reasonable timeframe, subject to any legal retention obligations.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the Service or its AI models.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service.
  • Create multiple accounts to circumvent restrictions or abuse free-tier limits.
  • Scrape, crawl, or use automated tools to extract data from the Service without our written permission.
  • Submit content that is harmful, abusive, defamatory, or infringes on the rights of others.

7. Intellectual Property

All content, features, and functionality of the Service — including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, software, AI models, practice materials, and the overall design — are owned by IELTSLab and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

"IELTS" is a registered trademark of the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia, and Cambridge University Press & Assessment. IELTSLab uses this term solely to describe the nature of the preparation service we offer and does not claim any association with or endorsement by these organizations.

8. Payments, Subscriptions & Refunds

Certain features of the Service may require payment of a one-time fee or a recurring subscription charge. Where pricing applies, the following terms govern the billing relationship:

  • Payment processing. All payments are handled exclusively by regulated, PCI-DSS compliant payment service providers, by your mobile platform's in-app billing system, or by licensed payment gateways operating in your local market (including, where available, card networks, mobile financial services, and internet banking). IELTSLab does not receive or store full card numbers, CVV codes, mobile wallet PINs, or bank credentials.
  • Currency & pricing. Prices may be displayed in a local currency where supported. Applicable taxes, value-added tax, or government levies may be added to the displayed price as required by law and will be itemised at checkout.
  • Authorisation. By providing payment information, you authorise us and our payment partners to charge the applicable fees, together with any applicable taxes, to the payment method you select.
  • Auto-renewal. Subscription plans renew automatically at the end of each billing cycle unless cancelled before the renewal date. The cycle, price, and renewal date are disclosed before purchase.
  • Cancellation. You may cancel a subscription at any time from your account settings or via the relevant app store. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid billing period; you retain access to the paid features until that date.
  • Refunds. Refund eligibility is governed by our Refund Policy and by the rules of the platform on which the purchase was made. For purchases made through an app store or in-app billing system, refund requests must be submitted to the relevant store. For direct purchases, please contact admin@ieltslab.app.
  • Price changes. We may modify pricing or fee structures with reasonable advance notice. Changes will not affect the price of a billing cycle that has already commenced.
  • Failed payments. If a charge is declined or reversed, we may suspend access to paid features until payment is successfully completed.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.

No Score Guarantee. AI-generated scores and feedback are approximate predictions based on machine learning models. They are designed to help you practice and improve, but they do not guarantee any specific score on an actual IELTS examination. Your real IELTS score may differ from the estimates provided by the Service.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. We make no guarantees regarding the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any content or AI-generated output provided through the Service.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, IELTSLab and its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of or inability to use the Service.

In no event shall our total liability to you for all claims arising from the Service exceed the amount you have paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or fifty US dollars (US$50), whichever is greater.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless IELTSLab and its affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of any third-party rights.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Any provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination shall survive, including ownership, warranty disclaimers, indemnification, and limitations of liability.

You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us or using the account deletion feature in your settings.

13. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms, and any non-contractual obligations arising out of or in connection with them, shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. The courts of Dhaka, Bangladesh shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service, except that you may have additional rights as a consumer under the mandatory laws of your country of residence.

Before initiating formal proceedings, the parties agree to attempt in good faith to resolve any dispute by writing to admin@ieltslab.app and engaging in informal negotiation for a period of at least thirty (30) days.

14. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated through the Service or via email. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
